Facilities Feature from Kevin: Planning for a Successful Year at Our Sanctuary
/by Kevin Weil, Facilities Manager
As we step into a new year at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, our Facilities Team is gearing up to ensure our sanctuary continues to be a safe, comfortable, and sustainable home for all our rescued residents. From infrastructure improvements to seasonal maintenance, thoughtful planning is the key to our success.
Assessing Our Needs
The first step in our annual planning process is evaluating our current facilities and identifying areas for improvement. This includes inspecting barns, fencing, water systems, and pastures to determine necessary repairs and upgrades. We’re excited to grow into our new property. Our first spring will introduce unique challenges that are difficult to predict.
Prioritizing Projects
With a long list of potential projects, prioritization is essential. We focus on resident safety and quality of life first. One of the biggest projects on our list is fencing. Expanding our fencing footprint gives the residents the ability to explore the property safely and allows us better pasture management options.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation
Every project requires funding, and as a nonprofit, we carefully allocate resources to maximize their impact. We work closely with our fundraising and administrative teams to secure grants, sponsorships, and donations that support facility improvements. Volunteer involvement is also a crucial part of our planning, as many hands make light work! Our volunteer work groups in 2025 will be instrumental in shaping the future of HEEFS at our new property.
Looking Ahead
With careful planning, teamwork, and the support of our amazing sanctuary family, we’re ready to make this year one of growth and positive change. Thank you for being part of our journey—your generosity and involvement make all of this possible. We look forward to sharing our progress with you throughout the year!
