Because of the work we do, we know all too well that most female farmed animals never get the chance to bond with their babies, and most babies miss out on the special love and attention that only a mom can give.
Read MoreWhen Esther became ill and had to be rushed to the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), at the University of Guelph, we thought she would undergo some testing and then we would know what was causing her to shake, turn blue and lose her balance. What we found out, instead, was that the imaging tools needed to diagnose a large animal, such as Esther, were not available in Canada.

That's why it has always been our goal to have a garden program in place that could provide most, if not all, of the produce for our residents' meals. With a whole lot of help from Heather Rajotte, a horticultural expert and member of the Master Gardeners of Canada, along with kind donations and volunteer time from our incredible supporters, that goal is becoming a reality.

Read MoreThis past year was full of excitement at HEEFS! We welcomed new residents Tammy B., Heidi, Nancy, Cornelius, Hank, Clawdia, Elvis an our newest peacock and friend for Jerry, Jesus! We made improvements to our shelters and pastures including electrical upgrades to the main barn, and we built a new shelter for our cows.

Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary is run by a network of caring volunteers and is funded entirely through donations. Our residents are fed, housed and get regular veterinary care because of the generosity of our many supporters. You can become a monthly donor, or make a one-time donation here.

All donations from residents of these two countries are tax-deductible. While we welcome donations from residents of all other countries, these are currently not tax deductible.
