Summertime and living is easy at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary
/Where does the time go?
We can hardly believe that it's already been 2 years since we first opened Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary to our animal residents and to the public for tours and volunteer work days.
Saturday, July 3th, 2015 marked the official grand opening and first public tour day ever! Since then we've had thousands of people from all over the world visit HEEFS to tour the property and lend a helping hand.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this dream a reality. And if you haven't visited us yet, we'd love to meet you!
Here's what our volunteers get to do!
We love and appreciate our volunteers more than we can say! From our weekly crew to people who visit from all over the world and help us out for a day or two, we couldn't do any of this without you!
It's not just Poop Patrol...
We always need help with the many different projects we have on the go, along with regular sanctuary and resident maintenance. As a volunteer at HEEFS, you can usually choose from 2 or 3 activities that best suits your interest and physical abilities.
This year alone, our wonderful volunteers have helped clear a walking trail, built and painted our new cow barn, planted our vegetable gardens and fruit orchard and, of course, helped keep HEEFS clean by being part of our ever-popular "Poop Patrol"!
Along with the work, there's always lots of time to meet and socialize with the many residents of Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary.
If you've been thinking of visiting HEEFS for a volunteer workday or a tour, the 2017 dates are now available. Last year we had almost 2,000 people come out to the farm from all over the world! Nothing makes us happier than getting to meet all of our wonderful supporters!
You can visit for a Sanctuary tour, volunteer for the day, or join us for one of our many special events.
Simply check out the events calendar on the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary website and pick a date that works for you!
Get to know...Moose
Six year old Moose is our most vocal and social sheep. He’s the first one up in the morning to greet us, and if there are people anywhere near his pasture, he wants to be right there with them. In fact, with his huge personality and beautiful smiling face, there isn’t much that Moose doesn’t love.
Moose arrived at HEEFS with his best friend, Yammy, in September of 2015 after passing through several different situations and foster care. Now that he is safe and secure, he loves spending his time getting back scratches and eating pretty much whatever we offer to him. While the other sheep and goats are picky about food and treats, Moose is willing to try anything and will never, ever say no to his favourite snack, pumpkin.
Moose is always cooperative with us and doesn’t fuss for his regular 5-6 week health exams which include hoof trims, a full body check and ear cleaning, if needed.
