Special Bonds - Stephanie and Bobbie Girl

Stephanie has been a regular volunteer at HEEFS since 2017, and she still fondly remembers her first day. “My first time walking into the barn and meeting all the residents was so special, but there was something extra special about Bobbie. What I immediately noticed were her eyes,” Stephanie remembers. “She has these big beautiful eyes, and when she looks at you it’s like she’s looking right into your soul. All the residents have soulful eyes but to me Bobbie’s are different. You just have to meet her to understand.”

“Bobbie is like the Princess”

While she enjoys all the volunteer work she does at HEEFS, Stephanie most enjoys the time she gets to spend with Bobbie Girl. “We all know Esther is the Queen around here,” says Stephanie, “but Bobbie is like the Princess.” Bobbie is not shy about wanting attention and she will always look up and check to see who is strolling by and if they, perhaps, have some treats for her. “Even if you don’t have a special treat, Bobbie always enjoys a nice little scratch on her nose to say hello!”

Sleep tight, sweet girl

Getting Bobbie ready for bed is one of the activities that Stephanie looks forward to with every shift. “I always like to be the one to feed her, and make sure her stall has extra bundles of straw and lots of blankets” says Stephanie. Bobbie is meticulous about making her bed each night, arranging everything just so! “Probably the best part of my shift is putting blankets on Bobbie and tucking her in for the evening.” Stephanie considers her time with Bobbie Girl to be the best stress reliever ever! “In the summertime the grass is so lush at HEFFS that every time I would walk out in the back, and Bobbie was outside, she would come over to the fence and patiently wait for a handful of grass to be fed to her. Those are some of the most special bonding moments with my special girl and I will cherish them forever.”
